COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES LEAGUE (CCL) FOOD AND CRAFTS FAIR - 20TH OCTOBER 2007 AT RHS LAWRENCE HALL, VINCENT SQUARE, VICTORIA




Perwakilan London ladies participated in the CCL Food and Crafts of the Commonwealth Fair in support to the noble cause with the aim of raising money to educate needy girls academic potential around the Commonwealth countries. Perwakilan London manned both Food and craft stall during the event. Delicious selection of national dishes prepared by Perwakilan London ladies are Nasi Minyak, Ayam Masak Merah, Rendang Daging, Curry puff, Cucur Udang, Fried Rice, Fried Meehon, Nasi Lemak, Sardin Roll, Popia, Keropok, Fried Kuey Teow and Kueh Sagu. Perwakilan London donated £400.00 to CCL from the proceed of the sales.


MALAYSIAN FOOD FESTIVAL - 15TH NOVEMBER 2007 AT THE LONDON IRISH CENTRE, CAMDEN SQUARE, LONDON





Malaysian Food Festival in London organised by Perwakilan London in partnership with the Malaysia Truly Asian Kitchen Programme. Led by Yang Berbahagia Datin Munah Abdul Razak, President of Perwakilan London, hope to collect more than RM10,000 for a charity organisation back home. The event enabled Britons not just to sample the country's culinary delights but also do their bit for charity. A delightful palace cuisine by our celebrity Chef Wan such as Nasi Ulam Di Raja, Kuzi Kambing and Ayam Panggang seri Menanti were served. The icing on the cake was a special talk on Malaysia's palace cuisine and a cooking demonstration by celebrity Chef Wan.



PERWAKILAN LONDON CELEBRATED 'HARI RAYA AIDIL FITRI' WITH MALAYSIAN STUDENTS DEPARTMENT - 14TH OCTOBER 2007




Bhg. Datin Munah Abdul Razak, President of Perwakilan London and family were present during the celebration of Eid Mubarak hosted by the Malaysian Students Department. This event was held on Sunday, 14th October 2007 at Stowe Centre, Harrow Road, London. Leman, Ketupat with Rendang Ayam and Nasi Minyak were served. Around 2,500 Malaysian students were present.



'MAJLIS KHATAM AL-QURAN' IN THE MONTH OF RAMADHAN ORGANISED BY PERWAKILAN LONDON - 7 OCTOBER 2007
An event organized by Perwakilan London in partnership with the Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam, Malaysian Students Department. Led by Puan Anis Badiah Mat Nor, Head of Religion Committee, Majlis Khatam Al-Quran was a successfull event with a support from the local Malaysian community in London. This is an annual event conducted during the month of Ramadhan.


BREAKING FAST WITH Y.A. BERHORMAT DATO' SERI ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI AND Y.A. BERBAHAGIA DATIN SERI JEANNE ABDULLAH HOSTED BY THE HIGH COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA, LONDON - 30TH SEPTEMBER 2007

The High Commission of Malaysia in London hosted a break fast with Y.A Berhormat Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Y.A Berbahagia Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah during their short visit to London. Also present were Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Alba, Yang Berbahagia Datin Seri Sharifah Aziah Syed Zainal Abidin and ladies from Perwakilan London. This was followed by the Maghrib, Isya' and Taraweeh prayers.


DINNER RECEPTION WAS HELD ON 6TH SEPTEMBER 2007 AT LANCASTER HOUSE, STABLE YARD, ST. JAMES'S, LONDON


Dinner reception hosted by the High Commission of Malaysia was held to commemorate the 50th year of Independence where the signing of the declaration was done at the Lancaster House by our first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj. All Malaysian Government Departments and Agencies, Businesses, Trade Organizations and Associations and Embasies in the United Kingdom were invited.



MERDEKA CARNIVAL 2007 AT TUN ABDUL RAZAK RESEARCH CENTRE BRICKENDONBURY ON 1ST SEPTEMBER 2007


A Merdeka Carnival was held on 1st September 2007 at Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre Brickendonbury, Hertford in conjunction with Malaysia's 50th year of independence. Perwakilan London participated in the event as a choir singing the National Anthem and the famous Jalur Gemilang songs. This event was organized by OMEC in partnership with Malaysian Government Department and Agencies, Businesses, Trade Organizations & Associations in the United Kingdom, supported by the High Commission of Malaysia.



FLAG RAISING AT RUMAH MALAYSIA ON 31ST AUGUST 2007 - CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF NATIONHOOD


Flag raising was held on 31st August at Rumah Malaysia, London to celebrate Malaysia's 50th year of Independence. All homebase and local staff are invited to witness the flag raising. Perwakilan London was involved in organizing the event with a special family games. Variety of delicious, tasty and spicy authentic Malaysian food was served.



DINNER WITH DYMM TUANKU RAJA PERLIS AND TUANKU RAJA PEREMPUAN PERLIS HOSTED BY PERWAKILAN LONDON

Dinner hosted by Perwakilan London was held on 17th July 2007 at the Malaysian High Commission. DYMM Tuanku Raja Perlis and Tuanku Raja Perempuan Perlis were entertained with a "Poco-Poco" dance and karaoke by group of ladies from Perwakilan London. The Perwakilan London ladies sang a song titled "Bila Larut Malam", led by Yang Berbahagia Datin Munah Abdul Razak, President of Perwakilan London.



HI-TEA WITH YANG AMAT BERBAHAGIA DATIN SERI JEANNE ABDULLAH, WIFE OF THE PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA

A Hi-Tea hosted by Y. Bhg. Datin Munah Abdul Razak, President of Perwakilan London was held to welcome Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The event was held on 17 June 2007 at Rumah Malaysia, 1 Templewood Gardens, London. Yang Amat Berbahagia Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah was entertained with a traditional dance and karaoke by the members of the Perwakilan London. Around 40 ladies from Perwakilan London were present during the event.



"A TOUCH OF MALAYSIA"
Perwakilan London in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Malaysia hosted a luncheon on 7th June 2007 at Hilton Kensington Hotel, 179-199 Holland Park Avenue, London W11 4UL. "A Touch of Malaysia" is part of several scheduled events in London to commemorate Malaysia's 50th Independence Anniversary and "Visit Malaysia Year". The highlight of the luncheon is an exciting cultural performance and fashion show which showcase the colourful, unique and exciting multi-cultural Malaysian identity. Also present is Yang Berbahagia Datin Seri Utama Masnah Rais, wife of Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage and Princess Helena Montafian MBE Patron of Commonwealth Countries League.




A DAY TRIP TO COTSWOLDS

A summer outing to Chipping Campden in the cotswolds organized by Federation of International Womens Association - London (FIWAL) took place on 12th June, 2007. A group of 12 ladies from Perwakilan visited the home of President of FIWAL, Joan Lady Kings-Northon in Chipping Campden and were delighted with the warm hospitality given by the hostess. After a wonderful lunch hosted by Joan Lady Kings-Northon, we explored the historic town. One of its main attraction is the High Street and Kiftsgate, the home of the biggest collection of roses.



SPRING BOWLING TOURNAMENT
The Spring Bowling Tournament organized by the Sports & Social Club, Malaysian High Commission was held on 27th May 2007 at the Airport Bowling Alley, Bath Road, Harlington, Middlesex. A group of 16 ladies from Perwakilan London participated in this tournament. Yang Berbahagia Datin Munah Abdul Razak, President of Perwakilan won first place in Ladies Series and High Game Ladies category.



INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL SERVICE BAZAAR
International Social Service (ISS) UK is a unique charity which works in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies in the UK and around the world, facilitating a global exchange of information and access to protection and support services. Aim to promote and protect the rights and welfare of children and vulnerable adults across international borders. This includes those who are separated from family members as a consequence of divorce, migration, seeking asylum, trafficking and abduction; and other vulnerable individuals for whom there are protection concerns. This year the Annual Spring Fair was held at The Kensington Town Hall on 15th and 16th May 2007. Malaysia shares the same aspiration on the needs to address and promote the rights and welfare of children and vulnerable adults across international borders. As such, the High Commission of Malaysia through its Women Society Group, "PERWAKILAN LONDON" participated in the fair, not only to support ISS UK charity works but also to promote Malaysia uniqueness.


ASIAN FEAST

The Annual Asian Feast was held at the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, 9a Palace Green London W8 by kind permission of H.E. Mr Edgardo B. Espiritu & Mrs Lydia Espiritu on Tuesday, 29th May 2007 from 12.00 - 2.30p.m. The delicious selection of national dishes from 12 participating countries were provided by the Patrons of the Women's Council. Perwakilan London contributed three dishes - Nasi Minyak, Chicken Curry and Fried Meehon. A variety of home made desserts were provided by the British committee members. There were terrific prizes for the raffle draw and it had been one of the happiest occasion & most successful fund raising event. They raised £500 more than last year with the total amount of £4,500 profit for the Scholarship & Training Fund. A vote of thanks was expressed by the Committee to Mrs Lydia Espiritu for her generous hospitality and wonderful help in making the Asian Feast such a success.
