Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the ISS UK World Market (formerly known as the Spring Fair) had almost 100 countries represented with stalls that organized and run by Diplomatic Missions based in London by selling their unique crafts and food. The objectives of the fair are to raise fund for charitable activities as well as to generate awareness among visitors on the value of family welfare. On the 13th and 14th May 2009, ISS UK held its World Market at The Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, London. As a voluntary non-profit organization, Perwakilan has setup a stall for handicrafts and souvenirs, not only to support ISS UK charity works but also to promote Malaysia uniqueness.

SPRING BOWLING TOURNAMENT - 7TH MAY 2009

Puan Rosmawati Yusoff as Head of Sports Perwakilan London has organized Spring Bowling Tournament at Hollywood Bowl Finchley, Great North Leisure Park, Chaplin Square (Off Finchley High Road), Finchley, London on 7th May 2009 at 10.30am. A group of 15 ladies from Perwakilan London participated in this tournament. Group 1 led by Y. Bhg. Datin Munah Abdul Razak won the 1st prize in the tournament. Group 4 led by Puan Rosmawati Yusoff won the 1st Runner-up. Puan Rashidah Rustam, the leader for Group 5 won the 2nd Runner-up and Group 3 led by Puan Hasmah Hashim won the 4th placing and last but not least Group 5 led by Puan Fatimah Saadon had token of appreciation from Perwakilan. Puan Rosmawati Yusoff won for both 'Ladies High Score' and 'Ladies High Series' prize categories. Everyone enjoyed the games very much as some of Perwakilan members were new in bowling but the good team spirits effort made the event successful.

TRIP TO VIENNA, AUSTRIA

The ladies of Perwakilan London led by Datin Munah Abd Razak made a lightning visit to Vienna, Austria.
It was a 3 days visit soaked in the enchantment of exquisite palaces, sublime baroque abbeys, powerful castles and Gothic cathedrals. Its a charming city which interweave tradition with the modern world of horse-drawn carriage, classical concerts, art and clubs.

We started at the Inner Stadt and stood in awe at the timeless and magical place, especially the Gothic masterpiece Stephansdom and the Hofburg. Then on to Karntner Strasse, Graben and Kohlmarkt. Time was so limited that we finally caught the hop on-hop off tour to take in all 13 major sights including the palaces and gardens. We travelled over the Danube and hummed to Strauss's Blue Danube!

We even managed to catch the opera 'La Boheme' at the Volksoper. It was indeed an enriching experience for all 7 of us.

Oriental Market

Wing Yip Supermarket
Wing Yip is massive Chinese supermarket, with free outdoor and underground parking. It has a lift to get to the shop floor, and it has absolutely everything that an Oriental Chef would need. You can also buy oriental kitchen utensils like steamers and other things that they use. They also sell books on oriental cookery and traditional Chinese ornaments. A trip to Wing Yip made it easy, as they have a huge frozen food section. They were also fresh vegetables, sweet chilli sauces, spices, rice and etc.

Hoo Hing Supermarket
Hoo Hing is an importer and wholesaler of oriental food products. Products can be purchased directly from their Chinese cash and carry store or via online where they offer home delivery via parcel service. They often sell packs of frozen raw giant prawns, which are excellent, as good as fresh. They also supply everything needed to prepare the perfect Oriental meal. In order to enhance a dinner table, party or special occasion the supplies range from fresh Chinese vegetables, delicious dim sum, authentic sauces, a variety of noodles, aromatic spices, an extensive range of seafood plus many other specially selected ingredients from around the Far East.

Loon Fung Supermaket
Loon Fung Supermarket is located in Chinatown. It is a decent sized shop which has a wide range of food which is piled fairly high. Additionally, they have crockery so if you need bowls, chopsticks, etc it is a good place to go. Outside they have a good range of fresh fruits and vegetables including, according to season, dragon fruit, lychees, rambutan, Chinese pears etc. This supermarket is a convenient place to pick up all your Chinese cooking essentials.

Tawana Supermarket
Tawana is an importer of a wide range of fresh products from Thailand and neighbouring countries for individuals and the catering trade. Some of the products include a variety of fresh herbs, fresh vegetables, fresh seasonal exotic fruits and food ingredients from different regions of Thailand. Other Market

Portobello Market
Portobello Road Market is one of the most famous markets in the world and is internationally recognised for its second-hand and antique sections. Statistically it features in the top ten rankings as the most visited tourist site in London. It is regularly the focus of press and media attention and mostly remembered from recently the film "Notting Hill". The market has a mix of fruit and vegetable produce, new goods and hot food stalls. Friday the second hand market is open and on Saturday the famous antiques market is held towards the Southern end of Portobello Road, near Notting Hill Gate.
In addition to the antique stalls there are a whole host of arcades, galleries, shops and cafes open to cater for the flocks of tourists and visitors. A recent addition to the Saturday market is the Arts & Crafts section which is located just off Portobello Road on the Tavistock Piazza. This was created to encourage a range of unique trades and handicrafts.

Burnt Oak
Burnt Oak is a sizeable and busy centre geared largely to the needs of the local, diverse ethnic communities. There are countless shops selling discounted goods including homeware, haberdashery, fabrics and fruit and vegetables. The centre's location on the Edgware Road, combined with the attraction of Watling Market, means that it also draws people from a wide catchment area, thanks in part to the number of bus routes and tube station.

Church Street Market
Church Street Market; one of Londons' oldest street markets, located in central London within a few minutes walk of Edgware Road tube station, Marylebone train station and served by a number of buses into London's West End. From Monday to Thursday the market is dedicated to fresh fruit and veg stalls. On Friday and Saturday, with over 200 stalls lining the street, you can find a wide variety of goods including, fruit and veg, fresh fish, cheese, clothes, and electrical and household goods.
